How Do Boveda Humidity Packs Work?

Each pack contains a special mixture of salt and water, surrounded by a specially-designed membrane. This membrane allows osmosis to occur at a predetermined rate.

This rate is what determines the humidity the pack is capable of maintaining. Moisture is either released or absorbed to maintain the desired level of humidity.

How Long Does A Boveda Pack Last?

Depending on how and where they are stored, Boveda humidity packs can last two months or more.

If used in a conventional wooden humidor, humidity packs will last about 2-4 months. In an airtight container like a jar, however, you can expect to get 6-9 months of use.

Which Boveda Packs Are Right For Me?

For people wondering which Boveda pack sizes are ideal, they are categorized by the relative humidity or RH, they are designed to maintain.

One of the most common uses for Boveda humidity packs is to keep cannabis fresh, in which case either the 58% or the 62% will work just fine.

How Many Packs Do I Need?

In most cases of personal use, one or two small 4g packets will be plenty to keep a jar of cannabis fresh for months.

However, those storing larger quantities, or storing harvested flowers for longer periods may need larger packs, like those 60 grams and larger.

Boveda Brushed Aluminum Humidity Pack Holder

To work at peak performance, Boveda humidity packs need to have as much surface area exposed as possible, but most people just toss the packs in their jar or humidor. This can lead to the pack being folded or buried under cannabis.

To keep the packs flat and able to more easily regulate the humidity in your storage container, it’s recommended to use a brushed aluminum Boveda pack holder. They keep the packs flat and allow a small air gap between the packs and their surroundings, which makes them much more effective.
